2020 Wedding Trends

Is 2020 the year you tie the knot? Congratulations! Hopefully you’ve had a read of our blog post, 15 steps to plan your wedding and are well under way with wedding prep. If you want to make sure your plans are on trend, we’ve compiled a list of what we think will be big in the world of weddings this year.

Instagram Worthy Wedding Venues
With the rise of bloggers, vloggers and influencers on Instagram over the past few years everyone strives for aesthetically pleasing photos. And on your wedding day what better time to do so! Think beautiful venues surrounded by the Kent countryside, castle lawns and of course beautifully dressed tipis and sailcloth tents full of your friends and family! Take a look at the beautiful venues we work with https://holmstedevents.co.uk/tipi-wedding-venues/

Two Wedding Dresses
I’m sure all of you brides to be will be happy about this one! Following in celebrity footsteps, many brides are now opting for a wedding dress for the big day and a separate outfit to dance the night away. This is a great way to show off your individual style and personality. Maybe go for a white two piece for the evening instead of a dress? Or a playsuit? Or maybe a shorter wedding dress to show off your wedding heels that often get lost under traditional dresses.

Colourful Weddings
This year couples will be choosing lots of colour! Bright or pastel colours throughout the spring and summer and rich colours into Autumn. This colour scheme will be present throughout the wedding including, invites, styling, flowers and outfits! Of course, there will always be a place for the traditional, elegant white wedding!

Semi Naked Cakes
Another trend that we saw throughout 2019 and one that will continue this year. Semi-naked cakes decorated with fruit or flowers seem to be the way forward! Has the cheesecake had its day?!

Eco-friendly Weddings
As we all become increasingly worried about the environment and how our actions affect it, 2020 will see more and more eco-friendly weddings. Couples will be using locally grown flowers, locally sourced food, recycled paper for their wedding stationery and recycling points for bottles.

Rehearsal Dinners & Day After Lunches
Who says your big day has to be just one day! Many couples are choosing to have a rehearsal dinner the night before the wedding and even a lunch with their nearest and dearest the following day to prolong the festivities! What a great idea!

Table Styling
Couples are choosing to go big and creative with their table styling. From colourful florals and candles, to beautiful table cloths and runners, to huge hanging floral arrangements overhead and even the cutlery and crockery has to be spectacular. Gone are the days of white china plates and stainless steel cutlery!
What do you think will be big in 2020? We’d love to know and share with our brides and grooms to be!
